EMR EVENT PARK PRESENTS:
“VALHALLA CHALLENGE” 5K Obstacle and Mud Run
MAY 27, 2017

Come run the First Ever “VALHALLA CHALLENGE” Obstacle and Mud Run over 5K of Varied Terrain ranging from Flat to 45 Degree Slopes.  This isn’t just another Run with Manmade Obstacles thrown up on level or rolling land.  This is a 5k Viking Training Course that has over 20 Natural and Manmade Obstacles throughout several types of wooded terrain, open fields, and a run through CASTLE THOR and LOKI TOWN.  This is a Great Challenge for Individuals, Teams, Corporate Groups, and Families!  Come FLIRT, PILLAGE, and PLUNDER with the EMR Warriors.

Make it a Fun Family Event or Guys and/or Gals Getaway and Camp right at the facility or stay in one of our rustic Bunkhouses both Friday and Saturday night and sit around the Communal Camp Fire telling Warrior Stories.  Enjoy the Valhalla Challenge Run with All Day Music provided by a live DJ, and afterwards play some Horsehoes, Volleyball, Kan Jam, Bocce Ball, or Cornhole at our outdoor set-ups and Foosball, Beer Pong, or Ping Pong inside our Rec. Center.

The Valhalla Challenge is all about Challenging Yourself or using Teamwork instead of a race, so it will be self-timed.  For those that want to watch their times and compete against each other, there will be Atomic Clocks at the Beginning and the End of the Challenge as well as every Mile at the Hydration Stations.  When you register, pick your preferred time to start anywhere from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in 1/2 Hour Increments and we will schedule you for that time if it is still open or the next available time that is open.

THE COURSE covers 5k of Varied Terrain through different types of woods, open fields, and through a Wood Castle and Town with staggered Walls and Obstacles.  The terrain varies from flat to 45 degrees and the paths are grass, dirt, and some lightly rocky. There is a mixture of over 30 Obstacles which include Climbing Walls, Tunnels, Ditches, Tire Run, Spider Web, Balance Logs, Mud Crawl, Climb over Large Logs, Wade through Shallow Pond, Climbing Banks, Spool Crossing, Barrel Crossing, Sandbag Carry, and Arm Dangle.

Pricing

ENTRY for this Exciting Challenge is Only $49 if Pre-Paid by 12/31/16, $59 if Pre-Paid by 3/18/17 and $69 if Pre-Paid by 5/13/17.  There are no hidden fees and it covers your Entry, Insurance, PA Sales Tax, Challenge Run, Event T-Shirt, 22 Oz Event Beverage Mug, and Event Sports Bottle when you finish the Challenge.  For anyone that does not Pre-Register and pays at the event, the Price will be $85 and there are no guarantees of receiving an Event T-shirt in the correct size or Event Dog Tag.  All Participants must turn in a completely filled out Valhalla Challenge Waiver.

HEROES GET A DISCOUNT When Pre-Registering.  ALL ACTIVE U.S. & CANADIAN MILITARY, ACTIVE U.S. FIREFIGHTERS, and ACTIVE U.S. POLICE get a $10 Discount When Pre-Registering and must present ID when checking in.

PARKING costs $10 Per Vehicle and there is a maximum of 22’ in length.  Race Participants Park near the actual course and Spectators have a 250 yard walk to the Course.

SPECTATORS get in Free and can use the various marked Viewing Areas.

Overnight Lodging

Lodging costs $10 per person to stay in our rustic BUNKHOUSES and should be reserved in advance with Pre-registration to guarantee a spot.  This Fee is good for Friday and/or Saturday Night Stays.  Walk-on participants are not guaranteed spots in Bunkhouses or Campsites.  To reserve Your OWN BUNKHOUSE, you need to pre-register at least 15 participants and pre-pay a $150 deposit, of which $50 will be refunded after being checked by an EMR employee for Damage, Graffiti, and Cleanliness. Deposits must be claimed before leaving the EMR Facility. If you have less than 15 participants, you will be assigned to a bunkhouse and may have to share it with other players.  We recommend bringing sleeping bags, pillows, and air mattresses for your stay. Bunkhouses are limited and reserved on a First Registered/Reserved, First get Basis!

CAMPSITES for Tents and Campers are 20’ x 40’ and cost $20 per site plus a $20 Refundable Security Deposit.  This Fee is good for Friday and/or Saturday Night Stays.  More than one site may be reserved under the $20 Security Deposit at the cost of $20 per additional site, however there must be at least four participants camping per site.  RV SITES are 20’ x 60’ and cost $30 plus a $20 Refundable Security Deposit and there are no water or electric hook-ups for the RVs. Campsites and RV Sites are limited and reserved on a First Registered/Reserved, First Get Basis!

The Security Deposit will be refunded if there is no damage to the CAMP/RV Site and it is Clean with no Trash, Metal, or Glass left on the site including the Fire Ring. Deposits must be claimed before leaving the EMR Facility. 

There is running water with Hoses at various locations throughout the Event Park, a Double Sink by the Picnic Pavilion, Equipment Cleaning Station, Four Cold Water Showers for Rinsing Off, and Porta-Johns for Toilets.  

For Hot Showers there is a Flying J Truck Stop one exit below our exit on Rt. 81 that offers Shower Facilities and a Dinner Buffet. 

Participants that pay for Campsites or Bunkhouse Space are welcome to arrive anytime on Friday 5/26/17 after 12:00 NOON and stay through NOON on Sunday, 5/28/17.  ANY TEAMS or GROUPS of participants that would like to RENT THEIR OWN PORTA-JOHN for the WEEKEND, can reserve it by calling Yvonne at Suburban Septic at (888) 775-3693 or (607) 775-3693. You should bring your own padlock if you wish to lock it.      

We recommend wearing clothing that matches the weather and a Waterproof Watch if you wish to watch your time.  We also recommend bringing extra clothes and a towel to clean up with after the event.  There will be areas to spray off and also closed tents to change clothes in.  

Minimum age required to Participate in this Event is 10 years old.  10 and 11 year olds must have an adult of 18 years old or older participating alongside of them.  All Participants Must Turn in a completely Filled out VALHALLA CHALLENGE WAIVER and any participants under 18 years of age must have a Liability Waiver/Medical Release completely filled out and signed by a parent to play.

EMR’s own Jason Schwab will be there with SMOKIN J BBQ, which offers a delicious variety of Fantastic Smoked Food for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.  There is also a large variety of Premade Foods in the store such as Hot Pockets, Corn Dogs, Chimichangas, etc. plus an assortment of Snacks, Candy Bars, Soda, Energy Drinks, Water, and Gatorade. You may also bring your own food and grills to prepare food or go to one of the many restaurants and fast food places within 10 miles of EMR.
